Frequently asked questions

What image size is best for a website?

For most websites, images around 1200–1600px wide look sharp on typical screens and retina displays without being needlessly large. Content images can be smaller. After resizing, compress the file or convert it to WebP to cut page weight further.

Will resizing to 1600 width stretch or distort my image?

Not with the default “fill / cover” mode — it scales the image proportionally and crops the edges so nothing is squashed. Switch to “fit / contain” to see the whole image with a background, or “exact” only when you deliberately want to stretch it.

Are my photos uploaded when I resize?

No. Resizing happens in your browser using the Canvas API, so your images never leave your device and the result is instant.

Can I resize several images to 1600 width at once?

Yes. Add multiple files and every one is resized to the same 1600 width settings. Download them individually or all together.

Does resizing reduce quality?

Making an image smaller is safe and usually looks sharp. Enlarging beyond the original size cannot add real detail, so results are smoothed. Keep the quality setting high (90%+) when you export.

What file format should I save as after resizing to 1600 width?

JPG is the best default for photos and the smallest, PNG preserves transparency, and WebP offers a great size-to-quality ratio for the web. Pick the format that matches where you will use the image.
