How to use favicon generator

  1. 1

    Add a square image

Drop a logo or icon. A square source works best; non-square images are centered without cropping.

  2. 2

    Pick a background

Keep it transparent, or fill it with a color for icons that need contrast on any tab bar.

  3. 3

    Generate the set

    ImgSprint creates 16, 32, 48, 180, 192, and 512 pixel PNGs plus a multi-size ICO.

  4. 4

Download and add to your site

Grab the files and paste the ready-made HTML snippet into your page head.

Frequently asked questions

What sizes does a website favicon need?

At minimum, provide 16×16 and 32×32 for browser tabs, and a 180×180 apple-touch-icon for iOS home screens when someone adds your site. Including 192×192 and 512×512 PNGs makes a PWA manifest complete.

Do I still need favicon.ico?

Modern browsers prefer PNG favicons, but favicon.ico remains the safest fallback for older browsers and for tools that request /favicon.ico automatically. Providing both PNG links and an ICO covers every case.

Why does my favicon look blurry?

Simple logos with bold shapes read best at 16×16. Fine detail, thin lines, and text become unreadable at that size. Use a simplified mark for the small sizes and consider it a different design from your full logo.

Should the background be transparent or solid?

Transparent looks clean on light browser themes but can disappear on dark ones. A solid or subtly rounded background tile makes the icon legible on any theme. If in doubt, use a solid background.

Where do I put the generated files?

Place them in the public or root folder of your website so they are served from the site root, then add the generated link tags to the <head> of every page. Most frameworks have a base layout where you can paste them once.

Is my logo uploaded to a server?

No. The resizing and ICO packaging happen in your browser using the Canvas API. Your logo never leaves your device.
