Convert
Convert Image
Convert images between JPG, PNG, WebP, and AVIF in your browser. ImgSprint checks which formats your device can encode, handles transparency cleanly, and never uploads your files.
How to use convert image
- 1
Add your images
Drop JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, GIF, or BMP files — mix and match freely.
- 2
Pick a target format
Choose JPG, PNG, WebP, or AVIF. Unsupported formats are disabled automatically.
- 3
Set quality and background
For lossy formats, tune quality and choose how transparent areas should be filled.
- 4
Download
Convert the batch and save each file, or grab them all at once.
What you can do
Four modern formats
Move between JPG, PNG, WebP, and AVIF. WebP and AVIF shrink photos dramatically while keeping quality.
Transparency handling
Keep alpha for PNG, WebP, and AVIF, or flatten onto a background color you choose for JPG.
Mixed-format batches
Convert a folder that contains several different formats in a single pass.
Real capability checks
We only offer formats your browser can actually encode, so you never get a broken download.
Image format converter
Drop images to convert
or click to browse — JPG, PNG, WebP, AVIF, GIF, BMP
Used only when the target format cannot store transparency (for example, JPG).
Frequently asked questions
Which format should I convert to?
For photographs on the web, WebP and AVIF offer the best size-to-quality ratio. Choose JPEG for maximum compatibility with older software. Choose PNG when you need lossless quality or transparency that must be preserved exactly.
What is AVIF and does my browser support it?
AVIF is a modern image format based on the AV1 video codec. It typically produces the smallest files. Support varies by browser and version, so ImgSprint checks your browser first and disables AVIF if it cannot encode it.
What happens to transparent areas when I choose JPG?
JPEG does not support transparency, so transparent pixels must be flattened onto a solid color. ImgSprint lets you choose that background color and defaults to white to avoid the common black-box problem.
Does converting reduce quality?
Converting to a lossy format such as JPG, WebP, or AVIF re-encodes the pixels, so some detail is discarded according to the quality setting. Converting between lossless formats such as PNG keeps the pixels identical. Always keep an original if you may need it later.
Can I convert back to the original later?
You can convert the file again, but you cannot recover detail that a lossy conversion discarded. This is why it is best to keep the original file and only convert copies for sharing or the web.
Why is my WebP file larger than the original JPEG?
Occasionally a JPEG is already highly optimized, or the WebP encoder chooses differently for a particular image. When that happens, increase the quality setting or simply keep the original format. The tool shows each file’s before and after size so you can decide.
Are files uploaded to a server?
No. Conversion happens in your browser using the Canvas API. Your files never leave your device.
